ATV and SSV are acronyms that ignite the imagination of all motorsport enthusiasts. In the following entry, we have included the most important information about off-road vehicles described by these acronyms. We invite you to read, especially those who are just beginning their adventure with four wheels that effectively raise adrenaline levels!
The name ATV comes from the words All Terrain Vehicle. In Polish, they are referred to as all-terrain vehicles. As the name suggests, they are vehicles designed to drive in virtually any conditions: mud or bumpy and wet roads are no obstacle for them. They are not intended for paved routes; they are mainly used for off-road driving. They are characterized by the lack of a cabin. The ATV category includes three-wheelers and quads, as well as vehicles equipped with six or eight wheels or even a track drive.
An ATV vehicle should be operated by one person, sitting on it "astride." All-terrain vehicles have handlebars similar to those of a motorcycle.
As mentioned, all-terrain vehicles do not travel on paved roads, hence their tires must be exceptionally durable. Interestingly, thanks to reduced air pressure in the tires, it is easier to traverse rough terrain. ATV vehicles are used for recreation, but they are also operated by rescuers, soldiers, and farmers overseeing their lands. Additionally, races involving quads and three-wheelers are organized. Depending on the model and purpose, they may have drive on two, four wheels or six wheels. They also differ in engine, suspension, or power steering.
Side-by-side vehicles is the English name for an off-road vehicle that can carry from two to even six people. The most commonly used models have only two seats: for the driver and an accompanying passenger. Unlike quads, SSV vehicles have a frame, which can function independently or serve as a base for creating a roof. Considering the engine power and relatively low weight of the vehicle, the frame is an important element ensuring the safety of people operating SSV machines. These vehicles perform excellently both on forest trails and rocky terrain. One of the flagship examples of an SSV vehicle is the Maverick, produced by the legendary company BRP. The machine proves that high engine power guaranteeing strong sensations can go hand in hand with equipment providing driving comfort. Everything is "enclosed" in an iconic body.
