Many people dream of spending their vacation on a yacht. They are not even concerned about Caribbean landscapes – our Polish Mazury are beautiful enough to experience the charm of "life on the water." However, few of them know that this dream is entirely achievable. Many companies offer yacht rentals from late spring to early autumn, and even those without a license can sail them. How is this possible?
When it comes to motor yachts, Polish law regulations actually encourage water vacation enthusiasts to try their hand at being a skipper on inland waters. Without a license, you can sail a vessel of any length, provided the engine power does not exceed 10 kW, or with an engine up to 75 kW, but with a hull length not exceeding 13 m and a design speed limit of 15 km/h. In the latter case, however, it is necessary to undergo training on water safety principles. It is worth attending the training or course even if you opt for a boat with less engine power. The knowledge gained will make sailing more enjoyable and reduce the stress associated with it, but most importantly, it can save lives.
People tempted by vacations on the water often wonder if they will manage to handle the boat, quickly learn its operation, and handle the equipment. Absolutely yes! Rental companies thoroughly discuss the models chosen by their clients and yacht equipment before handing over the boat. They provide tips on how to perform maneuvers in ports and what to pay special attention to when the vessel is in motion. Although it may seem strange, motorboats intended for rental are really not difficult to operate, and hundreds of people without a license use this service every year. Those who are skeptical can rent a yacht with a skipper for the first time and then try their own skills during subsequent vacations.
