Until recently, for most Poles, a "vacation on a boat" was associated with a sailing course or chartering a yacht with a skipper. Navigating the Masurian lakes without a qualified person or a license was unthinkable – operating a boat without a license could result in a hefty fine. However, much has changed now. Modern motorboats are relatively easy to operate, and the law allows for steering them without a license, albeit under certain conditions.
The change in law in 2010 made it possible to operate motor yachts with an engine power up to 75 kW and a hull length up to 13 m without special boating qualifications, provided their maximum speed is structurally limited to 15 km/h. Modern motorboats significantly facilitate this task. Steering them is quite intuitive, and even someone who has never spent a vacation on the water before can manage it after a short training session. Simply put, boats are designed so that both sailing and maneuvering in ports pose no threat to anyone.
Easy boat operation is not the only reason some Poles decide to purchase their own vessel. Modern motorboats are comfortable, floating homes. Onboard, there is not only a kitchen but also a bathroom with a shower and toilet. There is a separate space for sleeping and relaxing, and the interiors can be heated with onboard heating. Motor yachts are also equipped with professional audio/video equipment to make stays on the water even more enjoyable.
Of course, modern equipment is not limited to yachts that can be operated without a license. Larger and faster vessels, which require a license, are also equipped to function as a luxurious hotel on the water. Nowadays, sailing a motor yacht is a wonderful relaxation, regardless of whether the weather is favorable or not.
