Probably, there are few people who wouldn't be happy about the arrival of spring. Higher temperatures and longer days are especially enjoyed by sailors, for whom this season means preparing yachts for launching. What should you remember?
Start your preparations for the season by thoroughly washing the bottom, sides, and deck. Critically assess any damage, especially leaks in hatches, portholes, and hull fittings. If you notice leaks, especially below the waterline, have them repaired before the boat goes into the water.
Thoroughly ventilate all corners, and if possible, heat the interior with a heater. This will help you get rid of stale air, excess moisture, and the risk of mold.
Check all fittings and fastenings. If you detect any slack, disassemble the element, clean it, assess its condition, and using a sealant, securely reassemble it.
During the pre-season inspection of the yacht, turn on all the electrical devices you have—lights, navigation instruments, etc. Make sure they work flawlessly. Flush the drinking water system, and preferably disinfect it. Replace the filters in the fuel system and ensure there are no leaks.
Clean the outboard water pump and replace its impeller. Check if the thermostat is functioning well.
Replenish shortages and make necessary repairs.
This will keep the boat looking perfect for longer.
Get rid of dust and dirt from the interior. Ensure the yacht is fully equipped. If you took mattresses, bedding, and other items that might have gotten damp over the winter, bring them back.
