Spending free time on a motorboat is becoming increasingly popular in Poland. It's no surprise – a weekend or vacation on the water offers a lot of fun, especially on hot summer days. For many boating enthusiasts, modern boats essentially become a second home as soon as the season starts. What should everyone who decides to spend time on board remember? Let's find out!
Before setting sail, make sure the vessel is in good condition and that all necessary accessories are on board. Do not underestimate safety equipment such as life rings and jackets, a first aid kit, and fire extinguishers. It's worth training the entire crew on the location and use of safety equipment, and even better – assigning tasks in case of an emergency. Ensure the crew knows the principles of first aid, and if not, remind them. A good habit is to place emergency numbers for services that can provide assistance on the given body of water in a visible location. Warn the crew against consuming alcohol and other substances that may impair judgment and reaction time in dangerous situations on the water.
Always check the weather forecasts for your area thoroughly, and in addition, remain vigilant and use common sense. Sometimes unexpected storms appear, which can be predicted by occasionally glancing at the clouds. Remember that strong winds can capsize even large motorboats, so during unfavorable weather, always try to be in port or a safe place by the shore (but not near trees!). When it becomes really dangerous on the boat, never go below deck.
